If you need to be seen within 48 hours, you will always be able to see a health professional in open surgery each morning, Monday to Friday, from 8.30am to 10.15am.

Patients are seen on a first come first serve basis. We cannot guarantee a doctor of choice in the open surgery. Please see "Appointments" for further details.

We run many clinics for chronic disease care and offer a wide variety of other medical services such as antenatal and postnatal care, minor surgery, childhood vaccinations and well-person check-ups.

FLU VACCINATION

Who should get the vaccination? We recommend the flu vaccination for all patients over 65 years of age or if you have certain conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, asthma, COPD, chronic liver disease or chronic kidney disease. We also recommend the flu vaccination for those patients who have lowered immunity due to disease or treatment and those in other at risk groups.

Vaccination - The seasonal flu vaccine includes protection against the 3 most common flu viruses [including swine flu] most likely to be circulating this season.

The earlier you get the vaccine, the sooner you will develop protection.

Receiving the Vaccination - You do not need an appointment to get your flu vaccination, please attend the open surgery any morning between 08:30 - 11:30.

What to do if you have the flu .... If you have flu or flu-like symptoms please minimise contact with others and stay at home; most cases of flu are likely to be mild and can be managed at home with over the counter remedies. If you are in an at risk group or are becoming more ill, you should continue to stay at home and contact the surgery for advice.

Please remember that as with any respiratory virus, you should cover coughs and sneezes; bin tissues and wash your hands thoroughly.

If you are unsure if you should receive the flu vaccination or not, please ask.
