Open Surgery

We have open surgery each morning, Monday to Friday, from 8.30am to 10.15am. Patients will be seen on a first come first serve basis. If you wish to see a particular doctor, we would ask you to make an appointment with that doctor, as we cannot guarantee a doctor of choice at the open surgery. You may make an appointment by telephoning, booking on-line or calling to the surgery.

If you wish to speak to a member of staff by telephone, please contact the surgery. If you would like clinical advice and you feel this can be dealt with by telephone, please contact the surgery between 11.45 am and 12.30pm.

All telephone calls are recorded for quality and audit purposes.

Home Visits

We encourage patients to be seen at the surgery, where more facilities are available for diagnosis and treatment. If you are too ill to come to the surgery, a home visit can be arranged by telephone. We do home visits after morning surgery, so it would be helpful if you could telephone before 11 am. Please give the name, address and telephone number of the patient, together with a brief description of symptoms, so that we can give priority to urgent illness. If you feel it is an emergency, please ask to speak to the doctor.

The Eastern Health and Social Services board is responsible for providing services between 6.00pm and 8.00am, Monday to Friday and all weekend. You may contact the doctor on call by telephoning 028 90744447.

Telephone Access

If you would like clinical advice and feel that this can be dealt with by telephone, please contact the surgery between 11.45am and 12.30pm and you will be able to speak to the doctor or nurse practitioner. All telephone calls are recorded for quality and audit purposes.

Test Results

 You may telephone the practice for a result. If the nurse is not available to take your call, you will be asked to leave your telephone number and your call will be returned as soon as possible.

In order to maintain confidentiality the doctor or nurse will give results, and only to the patients themselves or the parents of minors.

HOW DO I REGISTER FOR EMIS ACCESS?
You must be a fully registered patient, and need a letter from us containing personalised access codes . To get this letter you need to come to Reception and ask for Registration for EMIS Access, you will need to show some photo ID, i.e. passport/driving license. The Receptionist will find you on our computer system and print out your access codes and registration instructions. Once you have the access codes and instructions you can connect to the web site at any time and register.

The first time you use the site you will be asked to create your account. Here you will need to enter the four registration codes given to you by the practice.

REPEAT PRESCRIPTION REQUESTS
If one of our doctors has arranged a repeat prescription for you, and the review date has not expired, then you can use EMIS Access to request a repeat. Prescriptions can be collected two full working day after request. Once you have logged onto EMIS Access you can view any medication items by clicking List of your repeat medication in the Repeat Prescriptions section of the screen. Tick the items you require and then click Make Request. There is no need to add a message relating to your request. You will then see a confirmation screen, providing you are happy with the selection you made, click Confirm.

VIEWING YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION
Clicking on View/Update Your Contact Info (opposite Welcome on the EMIS Access home page) will show the current details we hold for you. If you need to make any changes click Edit but please note the following points which are very important: Your address: Your address may appear in an abbreviated format on this screen, this is because our computer system limits the address field to a specific width. If you address is abbreviated there is no need to change it unless it is technically incorrect (i.e. wrong flat number).

E-mail: it is useful for us if you can provide a current e-mail address - particularly if you are using our repeat prescription request service. After entering any changes click Submit. You then need to confirm the changes by clicking Confirm. We review all changes when we receive them, and accept them providing they comply with our requirements.

SECURE MESSAGING
The EMIS Access messaging system provides an encrypted secure method of communicating electronically with us. Click on Send a message to your surgery. Complete the subject line, and enter your message in the message field. Your message is limited to around 450 characters. The EMIS Access home page tells you whether you have messages. You can then click to view them Important notes: a copy of your message and our reply will also be attached automatically to your medical record. We aim to respond to your secure message within 2 to 3 working days.
